Grieg: Lyric Pieces (Lyriske stykker), Books 1–10
Sixty-six short piano pieces Grieg published in ten books between 1867 and 1901: dances, songs, album leaves and pictures of Norwegian life (Watchman's Song, Wedding Day at Troldhaugen). The first book, Op. 12, is often a pianist's first Grieg; the later books grow longer and harder.
The library has 12 of the book's 66 numbers, levels 3 to 5. Not in the library: Nos. 11–13, 15–23, and 25–66.
Each book numbers its pieces from 1 (Op. 12 Nos. 1–8, Op. 38 Nos. 1–8 and so on); here they are counted through the ten books in order, so Op. 12 is Nos. 1–8, Op. 38 Nos. 9–16, Op. 43 Nos. 17–22, Op. 47 Nos. 23–29, Op. 54 Nos. 30–35, Op. 57 Nos. 36–41, Op. 62 Nos. 42–47, Op. 65 Nos. 48–53, Op. 68 Nos. 54–59 and Op. 71 Nos. 60–66. Each piece's own opus and number are in its title.
