Level 1 sight-reading
Six 4-bar pieces for piano, written for a reader at level 1 and never played before. Read each one once, at a steady beat, and keep going whatever happens.
The start: one hand, one position, a handful of notes.
Playing one needs a MIDI keyboard and Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer, or Chrome on an Android tablet. Printing needs nothing.
What level 1 covers
- Keys
- No sharps or flats: C major
- Right hand
- Middle C up to G4: one five-finger position, no moving
- Left hand
- Rests: the right hand plays alone
- Intervals
- Repeated notes, steps (2nds) and skips (3rds), mostly steps
- Note values
- Whole notes, dotted half notes, half notes and quarter notes
- Time
- 4/4
